Afternoon Buzz: Trump to deliver State of the Union address tonight, Federal judge to visit Brooklyn jail after heat and power issues

• President Trump is expected to call for more bipartisan cooperation in his State of the Union address tonight.

• Pope Francis has for the first time publicly acknowledged the scandal of priests and bishops sexually abusing nuns.

• Federal prosecutors in New York subpoenaed President Trump’s inaugural committee for documents related to donors, vendors and finances.

• The Metropolitan Detention Center will be investigated by more than a half-dozen federal judges following complaints of freezing temperatures and darkness.

• Police say a grandmother was killed and another person wounded when they were the unintended victims of stray bullets in Coney Island.

• Jazmine Headley, the Brooklyn mom whose baby was ripped from her arms, has received a public apology on behalf of the city.

• Southbound B and C train service has resumed with delays after a train’s brakes were activated at 145 St.

• L and J train service is resuming in both directions after determining the source of fuel smells near Graham Av. State DEC and FDNY crews determined it to be safe, but lingering smells may be present at stations in that area. It is estimated to dissipate as trains resume operating in the area.

• Fire department activity on Vernon Avenue westbound between Stuyvesant Avenue (Kings) and Lewis Avenue (Kings) all lanes blocked until further notice

• Delays on I-278 eastbound between Exit – 38th Street; Sunset Park Industrial Park (New York) and Exit 28A – Old Fulton Street; Cadman Plaza West (New York)

• 24 min – Queens Center Mall to Russos on the Bay on Woodhaven Blvd.

• 23 min - Little Neck Parkway to Hunters Point Ave. in LIC on the Long Island Expwy.

• 16 min – Coffeed in LIC to Citi Field on Northern Blvd.

• 22 min – LIC YMCA to Union Turnpike in Kew Gardens on Queens Blvd.

• The Rangers (22-22-8) fell to the LA Kings, 4-3.

• The Brooklyn Nets (28-27) lost to the Milwaukee Bucks, 113-94.

• The Islanders (30-15-6) will take on the Bruins in Boston tonight at 7p.m..

• The Knicks (10-42) host the the Detroit Pistons tonight at 7:30 p.m.

• St. John’s (16-6) has its hands full on the road against tenth-ranked Marquette. Tip-off is at 8 p.m.

• Liam Neeson tried to make amends for a recent eyebrow-raising interview during which he described a “primal urge” to kill a black man in an act of revenge.

• ‘Modern Family’ has been renewed for an eleventh and final season at ABC.

• Chris Pratt revealed that he was nervous to ask Arnold Schwarzenegger’s permission to marry his daughter Katherine.

• The Flash (CW, 8PM) – Barry and Ralph must go undercover as criminals in an illegal black market to stop Cicada. But once inside, Barry and Ralph find their morality tested as they slip deeper into the criminal world.

• Rosewell, New Mexico (CW,9PM) – Max is conflicted when a town-wide power outage leaves hospital patients in need of help. Meanwhile, Liz turns to Kyle after learning details about the night Rosa died.

• Project Blue Book (HIST,10PM) – Quinn and Hynek follow clues that lead them to a secret group who have witnessed strange lights.

• NETFLIX: Hairspray – Pleasantly plump teenager Tracy Turnblad teaches 1962 Baltimore a thing or two about integration after landing a spot on a local TV dance show.

• HULU: The Bourne Ultimatum – Jason Bourne dodges a ruthless C.I.A. official and his Agents from a new assassination program while searching for the origins of his life as a trained killer.

• AMAZON PRIME: Terminator 2: Judgement Day – A cyborg, identical to the one who failed to kill Sarah Connor, must now protect her teenage son, John Connor, from a more advanced and powerful cyborg.
